Mark Burrows is the Director of Children’s Ministries at First United Methodist Church, where he’s served for over 25 years.
When he’s not up to his eyeballs in glue sticks and goldfish crackers, Mark loves travelling the country reminding young people (and their grown-ups) how amazing they are and how, together, they can do amazing things!
Mark loves cinnamon rolls and tacos but can’t stand peas. According to Pottermore, he’s a Ravenclaw. He adores classical music (especially Haydn for his sense of humor). Current musical acts he’s into right now are Superorganism, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, and Cosmo Sheldrake. He owns 11 pairs of Converse high-tops, but sometimes he mixes and matches to make even more pairs!
Mark lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife Nina and their youngest daughter - and future music-therapist - Grace, and he occasionally feels sorry for himself that their oldest daughter, Emma, moved away to college so she can become a nurse and save the world.
Mary loves hosting dinner parties, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, where you can find her either greeting Tokyo Cafe regulars with a warm smile and big hug or even packing your takeout order - or both. Bringing people together in all her facets of life gives her so much joy. When she isn’t hosting, you can find her in her own kitchen cooking usually anything BUT Asian cuisine and often trading recipes with her great friend, Cye! Things that make Mary’s heart happy is to attend wine club...I mean, book club...visit with friends, and watch football and basketball (Go Cowboys! Mavs Fan For Life!).
Mary was born and raised in North Dallas but is so glad to have claimed residency with her native Fort Worthian hubby and college (Gig ‘em!) sweetheart, Jarry. Their family of 5 includes two sassy daughters, Madee (10) and Sophie (8), and their 12 year old bichon frise (purchased from a RaceTrac).
Cye Wagner has led Engineering and Executive Management of her family business for over 12 years. She’s a proud Fightin’ Texas Aggie and mom of Davis (2nd grade) and Conrad (PreK). She’s very active in her industry, community, and church – serving on boards, volunteering, and teaching Sunday school. Between a life of calendar alerts, you can find her in the kitchen with some great rock-n-roll, classic country, or R&B, cooking away. Pulverizing garlic is her therapy; also, it’s delicious. Cye loves the outdoors, animals, and really good books. She believes to her core that kindness is everything and repeats ad nauseum to her kiddos – “above all else, be kind!”.
In addition to being the Executive Director of the Kindness Duck Project, Kyle loves serving as the CFO (Chief Fun Officer) of the KDP as well as #dadjoke king for the Wagner family (much to the chagrin of its constituents). The eclectic mix of music that exists on his iPhone gives most people pause -
why shouldn't a shuffled playlist include everything from George Strait to Disney musicals to Rainy Day Jazz? -
it makes him smile. All he wants is to help his children, family, friends, and everyone he meets be good people in the world (so they can help others be good people in the world).
Kyle lives in Fort Worth with his wife Cye, daughter Davis, and son Conrad.
